The Experience:

The Cape Town Diamond Museum was a gift from Shimansky and is the only one of its kind in Cape Town. The non-profit museum celebrates the world’s most precious gem, the diamond, and tells the 3-billion-year-old history of one of earth’s most valuable gems. The museum will take you through South Africa’s booming diamond industry and teach you of the diamonds first discovered in Kimberley, and you will hear of all the great names in diamond history.

The tour will guide you through the diamond process from its journey at the core of the earth, to the mine, and to the workshop to be cut and polished, then finally to the customer. Shimansky diamonds are cut and polished in-house so you can witness first-hand the skilful process that the diamonds go through, making it an art and an exact science as each diamond in the world is unique and you’ll see how its combination of cut, clarity, colour and carat weight creates its own one-of-a-kind fingerprint.

Located in the Clock Tower Precinct at the world-famous V & A Waterfront in Cape Town, with the epic Table Mountain as your backdrop, overlooking Robben Island and the Waterfront harbour, the whole Diamond Museum Experience is pretty hard to beat.

Should you wish to purchase any Shimansky diamonds after your tour, they are all conflict-free, sourced directly from South African mines, and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
